Roche C. de Guzman, Ph.D., directs the Bioengineering Materials Laboratory at Hofstra University, where he studies how the nanoscale architecture of human hair keratins and electrospun nanofibers influences wound healing. He teaches biomaterials and medical device design, including computer-aided design and numerical modeling by finite element analysis. Through an NIH-funded clinical immersion program with Northwell Health, he links engineering research and training to unmet needs identified by clinicians.
